In the heart of the southernmost point of Europe, on the enchanting island of Gavdos, the exhibition “Persistence of Art” is hosted with works by the artist Manos Ioannidis. The exhibition includes two impressive works, “Poseidon” and “Sounio”, which draw inspiration from the ancient Greek heritage and the timeless relationship of man with the sea.
The work “Poseidon” depicts the mythical figure of the god of the sea, capturing his power and majesty. Through strong lines and colors, Ioannidis attributes the eternal presence of the sea in the lives of the Greeks, while the element of water becomes a symbol of both physical and spiritual power.
“Sounio” draws inspiration from the ancient temple of Poseidon in Sounio, a place associated with the worship of the god and with countless myths and stories.
