The top event at OLYMPIA EN DIO is the Symposium of Alexander Philip, which is held every year in the Dome of Mediterranean Mosaics.
The “Symposium of Alexander” is a revival of the famous meal hosted by the Macedonian King, in Dion in Pieria, before he departed for the great campaign to conquer Persia.
According to the information given to us by Diodorus Siculus, the Symposium was attended by one hundred (100) representatives of allied Greek cities.
The dishes were prepared by Alexander himself. There was a black boar from Olympus as well as wild goats from the region.
This year, the Alexander Symposium is dedicated to local government, and the Prime Minister, Ministers, Party Leaders, Members of Parliament, Mayors and Deputy Governors of Macedonia were invited to attend, as well as the thirty-five ambassadors of the countries participating in this year’s events.
In the same space, in the Dome of Mediterranean Mosaics, artists from the “Persistent Art” will exhibit their works on the theme of “Alexander the Great”.
